Marie Hearney, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

I am a Speech and Language Therapist with 22 years' experience of working with children within the NHS. I work with children of all ages and consider it a vital part of my role to liaise with those who spend most time with the child or young person (such as their parent / carer and teacher). During my career, I have worked with children experiencing a wide range of communication difficulties and in a variety of settings, including mainstream nurseries and schools, special schools and health settings. My particular areas of specialism are working with very young children and those with complex special needs, and the assessment, diagnosis and management of Autistic Spectrum Disorders. I am licensed by the National Autistic Society to deliver their EarlyBird and EarlyBird Plus parent programmes.

Outside of work I am a mum of two teenagers, am in the middle of a long-term project of renovating a cottage with my husband and enjoy playing the flute, good food, skiing and my lurcher dog.
