Experience

Clinical
I have more than 20 years experience working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and have worked with all ages of children and young people and their families. I have experience of treating a wide range of difficulties including attachment problems, depression, anxiety, challenging behaviour, problems in school, ADHD,  loss/bereavement, when there are family mental health problems and with children who are adopted or ‘looked after’ by the local authority.

Management
In my role as head  of Counselling in Lymington, I held clinical responsibility for the work carried out within the service and took  a lead in service development. In my most recent NHS post, I was team leader for the Psychotherapy Team, liaising with referrers and chairing referral meetings for the Psychotherapy Team.

Supervision / Consultation
I have recently built upon many years experience as a supervisor, by completing a Diploma in Supervision (WPF). I have been supervising two groups of counsellors for several years, as well as individuals within the NHS and in Private Practice. In CAMHS I have had a consultation role as part of the Looked After Children Team and also ran consultation groups for Primary Care workers such as Health Visitors and School Nurses.

Teaching / Training
I have run courses for Health Visitors and School Nurses on Behaviour Problems in Under 5s and in School Age children. Within the NHS I have delivered seminars and training sessions for the multi-disciplinary team.

Research
I have taken part in research on sleep difficulties in under fives and have been involved extensively in the auditing of services within CAMHS.

Continuing Professional Development
I read journals and papers and I regularly attend seminars, workshops and conferences on a wide range of topics linked to my professional practice. I attend a Continuing Professional Development Group  and have regular supervision for my own practice. I meet the rCPD requirements of my regulating professional body.
