Lorna Polke, Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor

I have had a rigorous training as well as a wide and very rich experience which I bring to my independent practice with children, young people and their families. While my core training is that of a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, I have a varied approach to my work, sometimes offering individual therapy to the child or young person and sometimes working with parents, helping them to gain greater understanding of their child’s behaviour and underlying emotional conflicts or to ‘fine tune’ their responses to their child or young person so that behaviour is improved and emotional difficulties alleviated. Supervision and Consultation with fellow professionals is an important aspect of my work. A recent course, leading to a Diploma in Supervision, has deepened and enhanced an established skill. I relocated to East Anglia, from the South Coast, 6 years ago, where, in addition to further work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, I have continued with a private practice for adults, while developing an independent service for children, young people and their families.
