Experience

Clinical
I have worked as an art psychotherapist with children, young people and adults within private and NHS settings. Experience has included delivering art psychotherapy within rehabilitation, acute and forensic psychiatry and as a teacher with hearing-impairment and special needs.
For the past 7 years I have worked as a specialist clinician within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in Waveney. My role has included art psychotherapy and more general clinical assessment and intervention with children and families with a range of mental health difficulties. I have worked with individuals and groups of children with eating disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, family difficulties, loss and bereavement as well as those with complex emotional and developmental difficulties.

Supervision / Consultation
I have a particular interest in supervision and consultation and have developed my supervisory skills through further training. I have provided supervision for students in my current and previous roles within the NHS and I was also part of a group of professionals who developed multi-agency consultation groups within schools.
I very much enjoyed setting up and providing consultation for a range of professionals who have a role in working with and supporting children and young people. These professionals have included health visitors, school nurses, youth workers, family support workers and educational staff. This model of consultation has focused on facilitating reflective practice in the area of mental health.

Teaching /Training
I have found it helpful to draw on my experience as a teacher when providing training for professionals. I have provided training to colleagues within and beyond our multi-disciplinary team and have spent time developing the skills of other professionals who work with children and their families. Topics have included, raising the awareness and understanding mental health issues in young people, self-harm, expression through art and working with groups.

Research
I have set up and evaluated pilot art psychotherapy groups and continue to work on developing evaluation tools. I am regularly involved in audit of my practice.

Continuing Professional Development
I attend training events and conferences as well as regularly contributing to art psychotherapy CPD events. I comply with the CPD requirements for my professional body.
