Experience

Art Therapy 
Whilst working as an Integration Teacher, I provided art therapy sessions with children in schools or homes as part of the support for families and schools, along with group social skills sessions, parenting guidance, advice and training to schools. I used art therapy as an intervention to accurately assess need and facilitate successful integration into education.

Supervision/ Consultation

At Tuckswood Primary, I established an art therapy service and positive play support scheme in the school, supporting children and their families to work with emotional, social or behavioural barriers to learning.  Set up and documented weekly behaviour support team meetings and liaised with professionals within school and externally to ensure the emotional, social and behavioural needs to all children were being met.

Management
Whilst working at Tuckswood Primary I managed a case-load providing art therapy for young people and complex attachment difficulties, while updating my practice by completing a research MA in Art Psychotherapy. I also managed and co-ordinated all the interventions provided in school to reduce emotional, social or behavioural barriers to learning. 

Continuing Professional Development/ Training
Throughout my career I have relished opportunities of professional development. I have attended courses and conferences on attachment, ADHD and autistic spectrum disorders. Alongside this I have been trained in different approaches to help families and schools support children with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties. Most recently in 2014 I became a Thrive practitioner. Thrive is a system which uses assessments to focus the work of staff and families working with children.

In 2012, I completed my Masters Research degree in Art Psychotherapy. This greatly enhanced my understanding of how making art within a psychotherapeutic space can help children process some profoundly difficult experiences. 

I maintain and develop my own creative work through painting and drawing, exhibiting and partcipation in running and artists collective.
